NRCP’s primary discipline is large scale earthworks projects in

Working under Superintendent and Field Supervisor(s)

Roles and Responsibilities – Including but not limited to:

  • Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance
  • Perform all pre-trip inspections thoroughly
  • Ability to follow direction and understand scope of work
  • Accurately complete all work reports
  • Effective communication
  • Regularly perform Health & Safety inspection of equipment and tools
  • Follow all Health and Safety rules and regulations, as well as site specific policies
  • Work under customers’ standards
  • Follow equipment maintenance schedule and advise if repairs are required
  • Perform other tasks related to this function
  • Ensure assigned equipment is operated and maintained to original equipment manufacturer specifications and industry best practices

 

Grader:

  • Operate grader in a safe and productive manner
  • Operate grader controls to regulate height and angle of the grader blade
  • Provide either rough or fine grade finishing, spreading of materials, or clearing of surfaces
  • Finish grade base surface preparation to within half an inch
  • Maintain haul roads with the ability to spread capping materials
  • Create proper drainage at a minimum of a 1% slope
     

Excavator: 35 ton – 125 ton (or equivalent)

  • Operate hydraulic excavator in a safe and productive manner
  • Manage stockpile materials and load production haul units while maintaining a proper loading platform
  • Identify and sort different size aggregates to required specifications
  • Provide proper trenching, ditching, sloping and grading
  • Read and understand survey grade stakes and layouts
  • Place blast rock and various materials to predetermine elevations
  • Maintain proper safety berms at all times
     

Dozer: D6 – D9 (or equivalent)

  • Operate hydraulic dozers in a safe and productive manner
  • Regulate height and angle of the grader blade
  • Provide either rough or fine grade finishing
  • Manage dump locations and control haul unit dumping patterns
  • Carry survey grades and level surfaces to specifications
  • Spreading of materials and clearing of surfaces
  • Finish grade base surface preparation to within half an inch.
  • Read and understand survey grade stakes and layouts
  • Place blast rock and various materials to predetermine elevations
  • Maintain proper safety berms at all times
  • Create proper drainage at a minimum of a 1% slope

Loader: 25 ton – 80 ton (or equivalent)

  • Operate loader in a safe and productive manner
  • Effective use of a loader to dig, clear, and move earth, rock gravel, and other types of material
  • Load haul units efficiently with blast rock and various aggregates
  • Manage stock piles and maintain a clean working area, free of debris
  • Proper usage of loader attachments to move, load, unload and lift materials safely
     

Haul/Water/Lube/Fuel Truck: 40 ton – 65 ton (or equivalent)

  • Operate haul unit in a safe and productive manner
  • Maneuver forward and in reverse to accept proper loading of material
  • Move rock, gravel, and other materials to dump sites.
  • Transport and dump loose materials, such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, etc.
  • Water Management
  • Operate various pumps
  • Filing water truck
  • Spray water in designated areas (Dust control)
  • Lube/Fuel Management
  • Controls equipment to regulate flow and pressure of fuel feedlines
  • Operates valves to supply adequate fuel
  • Observes equipment fuel gauge readings

Packer Operator – Smooth Drum and Sheep’s Foot

  • Safely operate roller in successive overlapping passes over surfaces to be compacted, rolling sub-grade to desired compaction and smoothness
  • Determine speed and direction of machine, based on knowledge of compressed material under changing temperatures, so that ridges do not form by excessive pressure
  • Operate to seal sub-grade and base surfaces
